How does the Quantix system work?

  • The Quantix system combines the most technologically advanced drone and a powerfully simple data analytics system to deliver actionable insights to users.
  • Unlike other brands on the market, Quantix comes ready-to-fly right out of the box with dual 18MP cameras (RGB & NIR) and a truly innovative fixed-wing airframe design to offer the industry’s first vertical takeoff to horizontal flight UAV.
  • The unique design of Quantix enables convenient, hands-free launching, long-range flight and an efficient use of battery power, delivering a major advantage over quad copter designs. Plus, there’s no bulky launchers, bungies or need to hold or hand-launch the aircraft.
  • Quantix can cover up to 400 acres per hour on a single charge.
  • Quick-Looks – Color & NDVI images collected from Quantix are instantly available on the included tablet after landing for quick assessment and  immediate ground truthing while you’re still in the field or upload data online for deeper analysis.
  • Once the flight is complete, the data card is removed from Quantix and uploaded to AV DSS, AeroVironment’s online analytics and data storage center.  Aerovironment’s advanced analytics engine compiles the data automatically into a comprehensive dashboard for reporting, review and chronological archival.

Do I need to register my UAV?

Yes, you will need to register your Quantix hybrid drone.   All aircrafts weighing between 0.55 lbs. (250 grams) and up to 55 lbs. (25 kg) not flying under the Special Rule for Model Aircraft need to be registered.  You can do it here.

How many acres come with my subscription?

The Quantix and AV DSS bundle comes with 1 year subscription to AV DSS, our cloud-based analytics platform. Users can scan and upload as many acres as needed for advanced data analysis.

What format can I export my data?

AV DSS is currently able to export GEO-Tiffs and shape files.  We will be adding other formats in the future.

Do I need a license to fly a drone?

If you will be flying a drone for commerical purposes, as a way to make money, you must first register your commercial drone and obtain an airworthiness cerificate. This is mainly required for insurance purposes. You must also follow all federal, state and local laws regarding UAV operation and must adhere to the FAA's Small UAS Rule, Part 107.
